Whitewater is growing fast, and we know many of you are excited to see all the new development popping up across the city but aren't sure when the newest imagery will be published. Read more to find out updates and what we have planned going forward for our GIS Map. 🗺️✨
Our Geographic Information Systems (GIS) tool uses a base map feature that allows you to change the historic imagery going back as far as maps from 2000. Walworth County is capturing brand‑new aerial imagery in 2026, covering the entire City of Whitewater including the portion within Jefferson County. This updated view is expected to be released by the end of the year. 🙌

2. Click on the Basemap tab
3. Select the aerial year you’d like to view

🌱 ♻️ Compost Site Schedule Changes – Please Read!
Due to construction impacts from the Jefferson Street Reconstruction Project, the City of Whitewater Compost Site will have temporary schedule changes.
Starting June 13, 2026:
✔️ The compost site will be open Saturdays only
✔️ Regular Wednesday hours will resume July 22, 2026
📅 The compost site will be CLOSED on these Wednesdays:
• June 17 and June 24
• July 1, July 8, and July 15
🚧 Temporary Access Changes (Beginning June 27):
Access will be limited due to construction. Visitors must enter:
• From Jefferson Street south of Starin Road, or
• From Starin Road via Fremont Street
Please note: Starin Road will be closed between Newcomb St. and Jefferson St.
🚫 Reminder: Yard waste must not be placed on city streets or rights‑of‑way except on designated days, per City Ordinance 12.08.010.
Thank you for your patience as the City works through these important improvements. Updates will be shared as construction progresses.

📌 Placement Guidelines
• Place bulk items at least 6 feet away from toters
• Accepted: furniture, carpeting, large metal items, appliances, flattened cardboard
• Automotive batteries, tires (limit 2 per home per month), and used oil (sealed 1–5 gallon containers) must also be placed 6 feet away.
