The Whitewater Police Department and the City of Whitewater are pleased to announce that Officers Derek Johnson and Hunter Martin have been promoted to Patrol Lieutenant. The Police and Fire Commission formally approved their appointments Tuesday, October 13th.
Lieutenant Johnson was hired in 2022 as a Community Service Officer prior to being hired as a Patrol Officer and serves in a variety of capacities for the department. He is a member of our Search Warrant Response Team (SRT), Designated Marksman Rifle Team (DMR), Community Impact Team (CIT), and serves as a field training officer.
Lieutenant Martin was hired as a Patrol Officer in 2024 and serves in multiple specialty capacities at the department. He is a member of the Walworth County Mobile Field Force team, Drone Team, and serves as a field training officer for the department.

Winter parking hours take effect on November 1st and run through March 31st of next year. This means: no parking on any City street from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. Violators may receive fines under Municipal Code Sections 11.56.010(4) & (5).
Exceptions include:
• Physicians/surgeons on emergency calls
• Downtown parking is allowed after 5:00 a.m.
• Special permission granted by the Public Works Director

The City of Whitewater – Department of Public Works will collect bagged leaves and yard waste on:
📅 October 25 – October 30
📅 November 9 – November 13
📅 November 16 – November 20
⚠️ What’s accepted: Leaves, weeds, grass clippings, garden debris — in 30‑gallon or smaller biodegradable or clear bags. No black or non-transparent bags. Bio-Bags available at the Finance Department.
Placement & Final Deadline Instructions:
· Place bags no earlier than Saturday, October 24th & Saturday, November 7th.
· ALL bags must be at the curb by Wednesday, November 18.
· No spring collection for yard waste left out over winter.
📘 Ordinance 12.08.010 prohibits depositing yard waste on city streets or rights‑of‑way, except on designated days.
