Drug Drop Box
Drop Box Location
The Whitewater Police Department, Whitewater Department of Public Works, John’s Disposal and JWR Distributors have worked together to provide a safe alternative method for the disposal of unwanted pharmaceuticals. A drug drop box is conveniently located in the Fremont Street foyer at:
Whitewater Municipal Building
312 W Whitewater Street
Whitewater, WI 53190
The box may be accessed during normal business hours. This free service is available to all residents of Whitewater who now have a safe and anonymous means of disposing their old medications.
Importance of the Drop Box
Studies have shown that residential supplies of pharmaceutical controlled substances, those found in our home medicine cabinets, have become the supply choice for young people and criminals. Many abusers, a high percentage of which are teens, are known to have obtained their controlled substances from the homes of family and friends.
In addition, research has shown that our environment has been threatened by medication being flushed down toilets. Most controlled substances are created synthetically and are not removed through normal water-treatment processes. This can result in the discharge of these substances into the environment and into our ground water supplies. So it is with great pride that we offer a safe method to dispose of these items.
