Before serving food in the City of Whitewater, all mobile food vendors must obtain a City Mobile Food Establishment License. We've recently had several vendors begin operating without the required license, so we'd like to remind everyone of this requirement.
Getting licensed is quick and easy:
✅ Apply in person at the Whitewater City Clerk's Office
✅ Or apply online on the City of Whitewater's website under the "Forms" tab
💲 License fee: $7.00

Wisconsin law recognizes three classes of e-bikes:
🔹 Class 1: Pedal-assist only, motor assists up to 20 mph.
🔹 Class 2: Throttle-assisted, can propel without pedaling, up to 20 mph.
🔹 Class 3: Pedal-assist only, motor assists up to 28 mph.
➡️ Riders of Class 3 e-bikes must be 16 years of age or older, and the bike must be equipped with a speedometer.
To qualify as an e-bike, the bicycle must:
✔ Have fully operable pedals.
✔ Have a motor rated at 750 watts or less.
✔ Meet the speed limits established for its class.
In Whitewater, e-bikes are generally allowed wherever traditional bicycles are permitted. However, bicycles and e-bikes are not allowed on sidewalks within the downtown business district (the Triangle area) under City Ordinance 12.04.010. Know the rules, ride courteously, and help keep our community safe!

The City of Whitewater will begin an intersection improvement project at Franklin Street and W. Main Street on Tuesday, July 7, to improve the safety and functionality of this busy intersection.
What to expect during construction:
🚧 Franklin Street will be closed from W. Main Street to approximately 150 feet south of the intersection.
🏥 Mercy Health will remain open and accessible from the south only.
🚗 W. Main Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
🛑 Traffic signals will be temporarily removed and replaced with All-Way Stop signs.
Construction is expected to be completed by mid-August, weather permitting. Please plan ahead, follow posted detours and traffic signs, allow extra travel time, and use caution when traveling through the work zone.
