Does the library have a meeting room for public use?

The library has one large and one small meeting room that can be used by groups for meetings that are open to the public and free of charge. Reservations of either room must be made in advance. A copy of the complete Meeting Room Policy and the Facility Reservation Form are available at the front desk.

Does the library have any materials for genealogists?

The library has cemetery records for 31 local cemeteries, microfilm of the current local newspaper, the Whitewater Register, and the two defunct Whitewater papers, the Whitewater Gazette and the Whitewater Chronicle and many local and county history books. In addition, the library has a subscription to Ancestry.com that is free for library patrons to use at the library.

Does the library have a Friends of the Library group?

Applications to join the Friends of the Library are available at the front desk.  Annual membership dues are $5.00 to be a Patron, $10.00 to be a Sponsor, and $25.00 to be a Sustaining Member. There is also a one-time Lifetime Membership of $100.00. Specific volunteer opportunities are also listed on the form.

Does the library have a book sale?  When is it?

The Friends of the Library sponsor an annual book sale to raise funds. It is usually held the last two weeks of August with the Thursday night before the sale reserved for Friends members only.

Does the library accept donations of books?

A copy of the complete library Gift Policy is available at the front desk. In general, the library is grateful for gifts of materials.

Such items that do not meet these guidelines will not be accepted. The library reserves the right to evaluate all items as possible additions to the collection or replacements for worn materials in the collection. The library reserves the right to dispose of donations if deemed unsuitable. Many items may be given to the Friends of the Library organization and offered to the public in a fundraiser sale. Some items may be offered to other libraries or institutions.

For various reasons, some items may be placed in the city recycling program. No items will be returned to the donor. Librarians will not give appraisals of gifts and donations for tax purposes.

Is there Internet access at the library?

Yes. There are five computers with Internet access at the library. Patrons who wish to use the computers must sign the Internet Acceptable Use Policy at the library. Internet use is limited to 30 minutes per day and can be extended an additional 30 minutes if there is no one waiting to use the computer.

Does the library provide fax service for the public?
